HYDROMETER AREOMETER FOR GRAVITY DETERMINATION OF DRILLING FLUIDS

This measuring instrument is used for the determination of the specific gravity of drilling fluids and cement slurry.

The special areometer is not to be regarded as a laboratory apparatus; however, for field usage it provides the results in sufficient accuracy.

Handling is conceivably simple. A small cup with a bayonet lock is attached to the lower end of the instrument. The cup is filled with the liquid to be measured. The measurement is effected by immersion of the areometer into water.

Calibration is carried out at a water temperatur of 20°C. Nevertheless, the different density of water at various temperatures is of little impotance for field usage and can be neglected.

The areometer is made of anodised aluminium. In addition, the instrument is power-coated as protection against alkaline corrosion.
